"Hey Girls, Want to Sit at the Cool Table?..."

I can't even remember when was the last time I had a free moment to blog.  I was buried in yearbook land and as of Sunday night, the order was put in, so now I can come up for air and work on my newsletter deadline for Monday!

All last week, I could only look at the covers of my books longingly.  It was a horrible feeling to be so close to my books and not able to read them!!! I was feeling very cranky!!! On Monday night, I started Roger Bruner's (with Kristi Rae Bruner) Found in Translation.  And tonight, I started Chasing Sunsets by Eva Marie Everson.  Reading, I'm finding as I get older, is a balm for my soul.  I need to read like I need to breathe.

I was experimenting with a cream puff recipe today and Michael started quoting the lines of the 7th grade skit from Open House.
Michael:  "Hey girls, want to sit at the cool table?"..."Sure!"..."blah blah blah (this is me forgetting the rest of the lines)...Whatever major loser!" Gasp! Of all the things he would pick up...!

I tried explaining that the skit was about mean girls being mean and later how someone was kind to them because they were showing the love of Jesus, but he didn't care! He thought it was so funny imitating them and I have to admit, he had the tone, attitude and hand motions down to the "T!" He only saw one rehearsal and the actual skit on Open House day, but apparently, that was all he needed.

I am happy to report that our nocturnal visitor is finally letting us sleep through the night without the customary 2-3 visits per night.  Sigh.  I wish I could say that all the reminders made a difference and he had a repentant heart after disobeying us every night for who knows how long! The truth is that it all boils down to one word...socks.  Michael LOVES his socks.  The only time I can remove them is when he's taking a bath.  Thankfully, socks are relatively inexpensive so he has a lot of them! I decided that instead of taking him off from electronics and snacks (those consequences didn't matter enough to keep him in bed at night), I would take his socks.  I explained to him that if he made a poor choice, he would continue getting a reminder and a very poor consequence.  Of course, he was interested in what the poor consequence was.  When I told him he would lose his socks for the night and the whole day after, he was horrified!  Removing his socks is right up there with getting brain surgery without anesthesia!!!

And even though I wish it was the Holy Spirit convicting him of his sinful heart, I am glad the  "no socks all night and day" consequence is convincing him the importance of sleeping through the night!!!  In the meantime, I pray that God will work in his heart (he has so much "head" knowledge) and that Michael will learn the importance of obeying God and his parents without the consequence of losing his socks...!

I think that's why 1 Thessalonians 5:17 is one of the most important verses specifically aimed for parents!  The Amplified Bible puts it this way..."Be unceasing in prayer [praying perseveringly];"

Melaleuca Challenge Day...Ummmm, I don't remember!!!

Yes.  It's official.  I'm counting down the days til I can put in an order for my Melaleuca Renew skin care lotion, vitamins and some cleaning supplies that I've been dying to try out! The immune booster supplements Krista has been taking (3 times a day) has kept Krista on the wellness side when she was on the brink of getting sick two weeks ago.  There's no other logical explanation because she was feeling the signs of pending illness, but it was kept at bay thanks to the immune booster supplements.  I'm not sure how effective the laundry detergent is yet, but it sure smells nice :o) The shampoo has made Krista's hair so nice and soft (and mine, too!) so that's a definite reorder, too! The AM vitamin supplements didn't make me a morning person like I had hoped, but the PM vitamins definitely make me ready for bed by midnight which I guess can be a good thing, right?!?

My Aunt Fannie just arrived from Malaysia and will be staying with us for the next couple of weeks.  By the time she leaves, she'll be well acclimated to church and LOMSAA life because our schedule revolves around church and all the school activities! It's a busy time of the year as Shannae and I try to figure out the yearbook dilemma...which reminds me that I have to get out some forms for yearbook time slot sign ups.  Sigh.  It's time consuming and a royal pain to make one of those forms up!

But before I prepare to launch into a super-sized complaint about it, I'm reminded of this verse from the Amplified Bible...1 Thessalonians 5:18 "Thank [God] in everything [no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks], for this is the will of God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus [the Revealer and Mediator of that will]."

Okay, so I'm thankful both hands are working so it makes entering the data in those forms a lot easier than having to do it with a stylus in my mouth...pecking out one letter at a time!

"Krista, Your Battery is at 30% Power..."

Michael and I baked for our LOMSAA Open House tomorrow.  The recipe I wanted to make (Vanilla cupcakes) needed a cup of milk and we were out, so Michael and I ran to the store, picked up milk and came home.  I decided to put together the dry ingredients first for the cupcakes and to my dismay, discovered that the self-rising flour was MIA! Okay, this is SO annoying!!! Note to Self:  Never assume all your ingredients are in the baking cabinet when other members of the family like to raid the cabinet for things they're making, too! And while searching high and low for the Self-Rising flour, I found that I was nearly out of confectioner's sugar which I needed for my frostings! AAARRRGGGHHHHH! Well, I was so not running back out to the store again, so, I decided to experiment and try out this Red Velvet cupcake recipe I've been dying to try out anyway.  I started making it and then read the part about adding in the red food coloring.  Whoa! I had no idea it used so much red food coloring and naturally, I only had half the amount I needed.  Of course, right?!?

Then, I over mixed the batter (which is a "no-no" in the world of cupcake baking) because I let the mixer run while I was putting the liners in the cupcake pans.  I quickly stopped the machine and scooped up the batter into a zip lock bag so I could squeeze the batter out into each liner, but the bag slipped after I cut the bottom corner off and some of the batter squirted out onto the tiled floor!

I shooed Michael out of the kitchen (I knew I would never get red velvet cake batter out of his white socks!) and proceeded to clean the mess.  Once everything was cleaned up, I got the liners filled and popped them in the oven.  Now the recipe says to bake for 20 - 25 minutes so I set the timer for 20 minutes.  But, it wasn't enough time so I added 3 minutes.  Some of the cupcakes kind of erupted (I have no idea why they do that!) so Michael got to sample those.  He loved them! He was like, "Mommy, can I have more?  That one doesn't look good and I can eat it for you, okay?"  In your dreams, kiddo! Three cupcakes are enough so stop hoping there are more available! But I'm not sure if I can trust his judgment because he seems to have no discriminating tastebuds when it comes to things with sugar, so I put a few in a baggie for Krista.  I needed to know if they were sweet enough since I always cut the sugar.  I needed to know if they were too dry because I can't eat them to check them out with my wheat allergy issues.  So, yes, I depend on reliable taste testers and Krista will definitely deliver on that count!

Krista was rehearsing at church for the Open House production so we brought her lunch and watched a little.  It's going to be FABULOUS tomorrow! I hope you can come and see this!!! Diana Anderson is brilliant!!! After school, I took the kids to the store (again!) to pick up self-rising flour because I needed to make another batch of mini cupcakes.  I was determined to make those vanilla ones! After getting home and unloading the groceries, I realized that the Red Velvet cupcakes needed cream cheese frosting and I had forgotten to get more confectioner's sugar! AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH...again! I'm telling you, today, my brain was on hiatus and it was not a good feeling.

I went on and made the Vanilla cupcakes and while they were cooling, Michael and Krista got to taste test them after dinner.  Krista was working on mock trial stuff for tomorrow and she went away from the computer.  Michael zoomed in and was doing something to it.  Just as I was about to ask him to step away from the computer, he declared, "Krista's battery is at 30% power.  She needs to charge it."  Okay now.  Is it just me or is it kind of scary when a 4 year old can look at the battery icon on the computer and calmly state what battery power it's at?!?

Of course, when Krista returned back to her computer and found Michael there, she immediately asked him not to touch it and he told her about her battery power.  When Krista checked it, she was amazed that he was so close to what power was actually at---it was at 37%!

Once I put Michael down, Krista and I ran to the mall, picked up a shirt for tomorrow and then went back to the store for the third time today and picked up confectioner's sugar.  I made a cream cheese frosting for the Red Velvet cupcakes and a lightly sweetened frosting for the Vanilla cupcakes.  And then I'm going to try making cream puffs tomorrow.  But for now, I'm going to bed!

Seeing the kids all work together, sing and dance today made me think of Romans 15:5-6.  I love how the New Living Translation puts it..." 5 May God, who gives this patience and encouragement, help you live in complete harmony with each other, as is fitting for followers of Christ Jesus. 6 Then all of you can join together with one voice, giving praise and glory to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ."

Now that's what I saw in LOMSAA today! Be blessed!!!

So Many Things....So Little Time...!

I think this is one of the busiest weeks ever.  It's the life of a mom, right?!?  There has been VBS song & dance rehearsal, LOMSAA open house dance (amazing to watch!) and skit rehearsals, Science projects (the girls on Krista's project came over after school to work---Kat stayed until 5:30pm and then Krista and Grace kept on until after 9:30pm!), mock trial stuff to go over and practice, class schedules to complete, yearbook stuff, meetings, baking, church commitments, etc.  It's only Tuesday! I can't imagine what my friends Diana, Julie and all the teachers at LOMSAA are going through as they prepare for the big day:  Open House this coming Friday (9a - 12:45)!!!

Michael loves being at LOMSAA, so he's having a grand time! I'm thankful he's still napping and finally toilet trained completely (now that he understands he doesn't have to hold his bladder until December 23rd!).  Miracles still happen!!!

I forgot to take my Melaleuca AM vitamins this morning (gasp!) but haven't felt any differently.  I take the PM vitamins after dinner and by midnight, I'm actually tired which is unusual for me.  But it's something I recently took notice of...usually, when I finally make it to bed, I'm wide awake which gives me time to think about things, pray, make up stories in my head, etc. until I finally fall asleep.  I wonder if there's some herb or natural nutrient in the Melaleuca PM vitamins that makes my brain tired...?!?  I may need to experiment by not taking them for a few weeks to see if my normal sleep patterns return...hmmm...

Yesterday, I finished Jim Stovall's The Ultimate Journey and absolutely loved it! Stovall is "Red" Stevens and so full of wisdom! I just started The Daughter's Walk by Jane Kirkpatrick (I love her and had a great interview with her years ago).  So far, it's really interesting in a good way! My upstairs book is Erynn Mangum's Double Shot which is proving to be very entertaining reading (I've only gotten past a couple pages before getting distracted by the phone)

I've noticed that stress and pressure seems to bring the worse out in all of us.  I'm so thankful God doesn't have mood swings or overreacts when stressed or have anger issues! Instead, He has an abundance of mercy...even when we blow it.  I love how the Contemporary English Version (ESV) translates Lamentatations 3:22-24... "The LORD's kindness never fails! If he had not been merciful, we would have been destroyed. 23The LORD can always be trusted to show mercy each morning. 24Deep in my heart I say, "The LORD is all I need; I can depend on him!"

Lord, rain down your mercy on us all!!!

"I'm Hungry Because You Only Fed Me Pasta And Not Protein" and Other Stalling Tactics From a 4 Year Old Child

My favorite girls were over again for our monthly Bible study and it was such a great night! I love how they interact with one another, share deep thoughts and spill their laughter all around.  I find joy knowing Krista will have these friends for the rest of her life to keep her accountable, to share her joys and sorrows and most of all, to love her.  I love how authentic these girls are with each other.  It's inspiring and makes me wish every girl had a group of friends like these 8th grade girls from LOMSAA.

The other night, Michael and I had this conversation after his bedtime....

Me:  Michael, why are you awake now?

Michael:  I'm awake because I'm hungry.

Me:  Well, it's time to sleep and not time to eat, Michael.

Michael:  But I'm hungry!

Me:  That's because your stomach is supposed to be sleeping and now that you're awake, your stomach is mixed up! You need to go back to bed!

Michael:  But I'm hungry because you only fed me pasta and not any protein! I need protein!

Me:  [You BIG staller!]  Michael, the pasta you ate tonight had chicken in it and  [NEWS FLASH!] chicken is protein so no more stalling!

Michael:  Oh.  Okay.  Nice try, buddy.  But I give him an  "A" for creativity...that's the best stalling technique I've heard from him!

Don't ya just love it?!?  This past week, Michael has called me in because he needed more water (that's a classic), his blanket fell down (then stop kicking at it!), and he didn't get to say goodnight to daddy.

I'm going to miss this stage! He is a love :o)

Michael's chubby cheeks are no longer as chubby.  His face is getting longer and his limbs are extending.  He can stand on the bottom of the freezer and reach for things in the top shelf! I remember when Krista was finally able to reach the sink! She felt so accomplished! Now, she's taller than me.  Sigh.  Yes, I'm shrinking in case you're wondering! LOL!!!

Don't you love how the New Living Translation puts Psalm 119:13-14?
“You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.”

This verse also applies to shrinking moms :o)

"I'm Holding My Bladder Until December 23rd!"

I just finished a great book you'll want to check out---Marybeth Whalen's She Makes It Look Easy! I had a hard time putting it down! My upstairs book is Bridge to a Distant Star by Carolyn Williford and downstairs I'm reading Mindy Starns Clark & Leslie Gould's The Amish Nanny.  Books, books, books...so many to read and so little time!

Now that Michael is relatively trained to listen to his body and use the toilet, I'm working on getting him to hold his bladder.  I was with my friend Beth the other day for about an hour or so and in that time, Michael needed to go about 4 times in that short time span! So, we've been talking about holding his bladder in and today, he declared, "I'm holding my bladder until December 23rd!" Great.  This explains why we've been having a few accidents these past two days! I can see we've got to take this one slowly!

Last night, it was raining hard which is unusual since our rain season usually ends in February.  The weather continues to astound me and wreak havoc on my skin issues! I took Michael to the doctor this morning.  He started running a low grade fever and after having pneumonia last month, I wasn't taking any chances on letting it run its course! He's starting to cough and his little nose is starting to run more so we're keeping a close eye on him.  I pray he won't experience another febrile seizure and if he does, it won't be the end of the world because I know God is in control.

I love how the New Living Translation puts Isaiah 40:28-31:
28 Have you never heard?
      Have you never understood?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of all the earth.
He never grows weak or weary.
No one can measure the depths of his understanding.
29 He gives power to the weak
      and strength to the powerless.
30 Even youths will become weak and tired,
and young men will fall in exhaustion.
31 But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.

Aren't these verses so encouraging?  See?  You can soar high on wings like eagles---trust Him!!!

"I Only Like Underwear with Cars, Trucks and Things Like That, Mommy"

It seems like just yesterday Michael was declaring, "I'm never going to wear underwear."  Today, he's telling me he only wants the underwear with cars, trucks, etc. that feels very soft (the training underwear).  It's true that the training underwear are a lot softer than the regular ones---I can't believe he noticed that! We were at Target and they didn't have any underwear with cars, trucks and other little vehicles! He's rejecting his Thomas & Friends underwear because he doesn't like the dark colored band that's on them (they're dark blue).  Too bad So sad! He's going to have to wear them because I paid extra for those trademark characters!

We had such a relaxing weekend.  We got to have our "other" daughter over (Coral is a student at UCLA and we've known her and her family for over 10 years!) and she had to study for an exam which worked out perfectly since Krista had some studying and a paper to finish up, too.  Krista has always looked up to Coral as a big sister since she met her when she was between 2 & 3 (pardon the faulty memory due to the lack of sleep! I stayed up til nearly 2am working on my Five Star Books and More newsletter which is available now at this blogsite---just click on the tab!) and it's nice to see the girls interact when Coral is able to come over.

The girls were studying at the local coffee shop where two other friends of Coral (all students at UCLA) had come to joined them.  When Starbucks closed, Jacob had them all come over to the house to study.  It was nice meeting Roy and Lilly because I'm sure we'll be seeing them again! And having them here gave me a good excuse to bake some chocolate chip cookies so Jacob had to run out and get some eggs in order for that to happen.  I love spontaneous events and having last minute guests over is always fun even though the house isn't in pristine condition!

I hope Krista will always feel comfortable inviting her friends over on the spur of the moment, too.  Most of all, I pray her friends will experience His presence and peace in our home no matter what condition the house may be in!

Well, I'm on day 15 of my Melaleuca Challenge and I've nothing new to report.  I'm waiting for my extreme allergy and skin issues to pass so I can figure out what's going on in my body when I'm using Melaleuca products.  No news can be good news, right?

Well, the best news for you today is found in this verse from the Amplified Bible:  "1THEREFORE, [there is] now no condemnation (no adjudging guilty of wrong) for those who are in Christ Jesus, who live [and] walk not after the dictates of the flesh, but after the dictates of the Spirit.
2For the law of the Spirit of life [which is] in Christ Jesus [the law of our new being] has freed me from the law of sin and of death."

It's great to be free!!!

"Mommy, Krista's Antagonizing Me!" and Melaleuca Challenge Day 10-12

Outside, someone's car alarm keeps going off.  Then when you think the owner has finally done whatever to stop the alarm, it goes off again! All I know for sure is that it's not one of our cars.  Whew! Good thing because that's a sure fire way to get all your neighbors to HATE you!!!

This morning Michael went to his class and I showed him where the big boy bathroom was with the pint sized toilet (hey! I want one of those in Krista & Michael's bathroom b/c he's scared of being on the big toilet!).  My intention was to get him used to using it so I didn't have to bring in his traveling toilet.  Well, no such luck.  Here's a sneak peek at our conversation in the bathroom....

Me:  Michael, look at that little toilet! See?  It's not so high and there's a little training toilet seat for you to use.  Do you want to try it?

Michael:  Never!

Me:  Why not, Michael?!?  It's a Michael sized toilet seat for you! Why don't you want to try it?

Michael:  I don't like the color.  There isn't any green on it.  Okay now.

His traveling toilet is green and blue and the one upstairs is green and white.  The one in the nursery bathroom is blue and white.  Sadly, it was my divine sign to go back to the car to bring in his travel toilet.  I may be bringing that thing up until he's in high school.  I asked him if he would be using it when he's in college and he looked at me like I was crazy and said, "No! I'll be too big!"  Whew!

I just finished A Great Catch by Lorna Seilstad (such a fun read!) and I'm reading Snitch by Booker T. Mattison (my downstairs book) and The Fine Art of Insincerity by Angela Elwell Hunt (my nightstand book).  They're both so different but really good so far!

I'm currently reacting from some major allergy issues with some wheat I had this morning (I knew I was going to regret eating that yummy croissant sandwich this morning!) so not even four applications of Renew are good enough.  Krista really likes using the Renew skin lotion (she enjoys not feeling so greased up after a head to toe application of Aqua Phor) and can see a difference that's similar to using Aqua-Phor...sans the grease! The Melaleuca shampoo has been making my hair very soft and I really like what it's doing to Krista's hair, too! I think we have a winner here! The Melaleuca shampoo beats anything we've ever purchased from a salon or beauty supply store and it's so much more economical that the product alone is worth joining Melaleuca for!

Krista was trying to get Michael to do something (probably hurry up or something like that!) and each time, I would hear him calling, "MOOOOMMMY! Krista is antagonizing me...AGAIN!" It makes me want to laugh hearing him use a big word like that for something so trivial! I think I heard him use that same sentence about four times today and each time, it was because he didn't like what she was telling him to do!

Krista had her interview at GBHS this afternoon.  I think it went pretty well even though the Geometry test was a challenge since she's taking Algebra 1 now.  We'll just have to see what happens.

It's getting late and I need to finish some more laundry so I'll leave you with this verse from the Amplified Bible: 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 "16Be happy [in your faith] and rejoice and be glad-hearted continually (always);   17Be unceasing in prayer [praying perseveringly];  18Thank [God] in everything [no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks], for this is the will of God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus [the Revealer and Mediator of that will]."

Toilet Training Success, Epic Piano Playing and Melaleuca Challenge Day 9

Michael has been on snack and electronics (watching DVDS, TV, playing the Wii, DS and Gameboy) restriction for the past two days...again.  Hmmmm...why do I feel like I've been on restriction, too?!?  What this means is that I've been hearing more drums, piano, poor quality jokes (and I do not lie to him by telling him they're funny, either!) and answering lots of questions on "Why can't I...?  Which then has me reminding him why his poor choices = poor consequences.  Obviously, he's not learning since he's an avid repeat offender.  You would think the daily reminders he's been getting would help, but his selective amnesia is kicking in again.  Aren't we like that, too?  We offend a Holy God, say we're sorry and then find ourselves doing the exact same thing...over and over! Well, as long as Michael chooses to make poor choices, he will be reminded lovingly and get his poor consequences until he starts choosing obedience.

I'm so relieved to tell you that Michael is finally using the toilet appropriately for a four-year old.  Whew! For a while there, I wasn't sure if we'd ever get out of disposables! He sleeps in his training underwear during naps and overnight and we've been accident free nearly immediately (all that coaching about getting up to use the toilet which is right by his bed definitely helps!).  It also helps that he doesn't like to be in wet clothes so that may have expedited the sleeping overnight-with-little-underwear training process a bit.  Now I just have to get him used to using the regular toilets so when we're out and about and I happen to forget the portable travel toilet, we won't be in panic mode.  Success...finally!

This morning, Michael was playing the piano a little too enthusiastically.  I asked him to go gentle on the keys and he proceeded to turn off the volume, play like a concert pianist while declaring, "Look at me, mommy! This is epic piano playing!"  Air piano, anyone?!?  He is a hoot!

I have nothing new to report about my Melaleuca Challenge except that I just gave Krista an allergy tablet this morning because her allergies have been really bad.  I'll see how she feels when I pick her up from school today.  I think I'm extra tired in the mornings because Michael has been waking up about twice a night (ever since he had Pneumonia) for reasons that are just inane! Which is why he has been getting daily reminders for his lack of obedience and put on continuous restriction...

We just finished reading our three books (he's loving Little Rose of Sharon by Nan Gurley and The Dragon and the Turtle books by Donita K. Paul and Evangeline Denmark) and now he's drawing his favorite Miss Carol at church a picture to thank her for his Easter treat that's in the freezer while he's on restriction.

I love being a mom but there are days when I just need silence so I can work on some of my stuff without countless interruptions.  I feel terrible saying that, but that's the harsh realities of a selfish mom.  Who's trying to reform...!

It's why verses like those in Philippians 2:3-4 convict me so much! Here's what it says in the Amplified Bible:
"Do nothing from factional motives [through contentiousness, strife, selfishness, or for unworthy ends] or prompted by conceit and empty arrogance. Instead, in the true spirit of humility (lowliness of mind) let each regard the others as better than and superior to himself [thinking more highly of one another than you do of yourselves].Let each of you esteem and look upon and be concerned for not [merely] his own interests, but also each for the interests of others."

Say NO to selfishness!

Melaleuca Challenge Day 7-8

I'm exhausted!I feel like I need another weekend to recover from the past one! The best thing about today was going to group tonight.  It was so fun to just relax, have dinner (Mondays are beginning to be one of my favorite days since I don't have to think about dinner because we have dinner with our small group!) and watch the kids play and then participate in worship together with the grown-ups (or maybe it's the other way around!)! We sing anything from worship songs to "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star."

All morning and part of the afternoon, I was struggling with putting a sign up sheet together through mysignups.com.  Technology.  Ya gotta love it or hate it.  In my case, today I was hating it! I was so frustrated because I couldn't seem to get how to get my data to appear in the boxes! Plus, I kept getting this screen that said the database was being worked on or something to that effect and I would have to log out and then start over again.  Tonight, I logged back in and thankfully, I was able to get my sign up sheet together for our LOMSAA Open House.  I spent about three hours on one for yearbook time slots and it won't allow me to see what I've done until midnight (what in the world possessed me to put midnight for the activation time?!?).  If all my work disappears, I'm going to definitely have a cow, a canary AND a litter of kittens!!!

I just finished this great cozy mystery called Missing Mabel by Nancy Mehl.  It was a "Curl Up and Dye" Mystery (I loved how clever that line was and wished I could come up with things like that!!!)  about a hair stylist with photographic memory.  It was a fun read (it was so easy to read that I finished it in one sitting) and seriously, my only complaint was how Gabe's mysterious past was handled.  I mean, what's up with that?!?  This book is begging for a sequel, Nancy!!! Now I'm reading Nancy Moser's Masquerade and it's pretty intriguing so far.

It's my 8th day taking the Melaleuca Challenge and I'm still not quite sure how the vitamin supplements are affecting my body (unless I take the AM vitamin packet at night...!).  I don't feel any more energetic than I normally am.  My hyperness and energy kicks in after 9am.  I'm looking for something that will give me a boost of energy in the mornings so that when my alarm clock rings at 6:05am, I'm able to sky rocket out of bed and get going for the day! I am just not a morning person.  The laundry smells nice (I think I purchased the Fresh Scent Melaleuca laundry detergent) but I haven't worn anything from the laundry yet so I can't say much about it right now.  Krista's been taking the immune booster supplements and though she hasn't been consistent with the three times a day instructions, she hasn't gotten sick so far.  I'll keep you updated on any changes happening in our household.

Lately, things have been falling apart in our house.  We just got our attic fan replaced (thankfully, we got it done before the really hot weather hits!).  Our guest bathroom has a shower that when turned on, leaks out to the garage (now that can't be a good thing, right?!?).  The kitchen sink slightly leaks underneath the sink (hmmm...did the leak happen before the Lee brothers attempt to change out the kitchen hardware or after...?!?  ummmm...I'm not touchin' that one)  and the landscaping lights have to be replaced.  And, a tankless hot water heater would be nice.  Cuh Ching! I'm thankful that when the Rapture takes place, all these things will not even be a blip on the radar! In the meantime, we can look forward to the mansions in Heaven, right?!?

In the Contemporary English Version (CEV), John 14:2-4 puts it like this:  "There are many rooms in my Father's house. I wouldn't tell you this, unless it was true. I am going there to prepare a place for each of you. After I have done this, I will come back and take you with me. Then we will be together. You know the way to where I am going."

And that's the only way I ever want to live in a mansion because in Heaven, I'm pretty certain there won't be any home repairs or dusting necessary forever and ever!

Anti-Social Behavior and my Melaleuca Challenge Day 5 & 6

I had another sleepless night on Thursday and on Friday morning, I discovered why.  Michael has been fascinated with my Melaleuca vitamin gold foil packets and loves to "help" me open them and give me the vitamins.  I've been distracted and hadn't checked to make sure he was giving me the right packets.  I was feeling really tired Thursday night after not sleeping well for several days and for a rare moment, I couldn't wait to go to bed! Michael ran and got the foil pack of vitamins, opened them  up for me after dinner and threw out the empty packet.  He was so excited to make sure I was taking my vitamins.  I meant to make sure he was giving me the PM pack, but got distracted by my baking stuff.  I remember laying down and feeling really sleepy.  And then, I couldn't fall asleep.  It's so annoying when that happens!!! In fact, I was wide awake! I could have watch The Royal Wedding live at 3am (yes, I was still awake!) had I not decided to get up and go into my closet to read Hidden Affections by Delia Parr (it was sooo sweet!!!) first.  I finished the book at about 5:30ish am and went back to bed before having to wake up before 7am feeling very tired!

When I went to take my AM vitamin pack, I discovered several PM stand alone packets which made me realize somebody pint sized was radomly handing me the WRONG vitamin packets!!! Yes, I know I should have checked those packets, but he would open them without me knowing and bring them to me while I was in the middle of baking.  I trusted him too much too soon! I had to have a little chat with Michael to explain the AM and PM packs and to let him know that he had to wait til I gave him permission before taking the initiative to open up the vitamin packets for me!

Okay, Friday was CRAZY! But it was a crazy good because we had our spring finale for Momsnext in the morning and then our LOMSAA fundraiser dinner/variety show was  in the evening.  It was so much fun and an amazing experience watching all the kids work together so hard! There is so much talent in the 7th & ith graders at LOMSAA!!! I was so proud of them :o) After the evening was over (Michael didn't get to bed until after 10:15pm!), I met up with Krista later that night with a bunch of kids for an "after party" of sorts.  We didn't get home til after midnight.

I just finished Simple Deceit by Nancy Mehl (I'll have it posted in my reviews in the May ed. of Five Star Books & More) and the ending definitely caught me by surprise! My downstairs book is Cascade by Lisa T. Bergren and my upstairs book is Chris Well's Nursing A Grudge.  My reading time has been severely limited these past couple of months so I'm trying to figure out a way to get more books read in less time.  Man, I wish reading by osmosis would work...!

We got to spend time with some good friends today and watching Michael interact with Nathan made me realize how limited Michael's social skills are! Purposely sitting on the storage ottoman while Nathan was trying to open it to see the toys was not very gracious host behavior! And sadly, that was just one example of a series of offensive behaviors in the first hour of Nathan's visit! Of course, by the time it was time for Nathan to leave, the boys were having a good time playing together.  It figures!

I had an allergy attack earlier this evening and after taking my Melaleuca allergy pill, my nose has stopped running and I haven't had sneezing fits.  Zyrtech hadn't been working for me so it's nice to see my body responding to the Melaleuca allergy pills.  Ahhhh, could it be that my Melaleuca products are helping me?  I need more time to see how things work for my body.   I'm not feeling totally energized in the mornings yet, but perhaps I have to give my body time to adjust to taking the right AM & PM packs now after having my packets switched thanks to Michael's "helpfulness!" I just tried the laundry detergent tonight so I'm curious to see what difference it will have.

I was reading Romans 12 in my Amplified Bible and I love what verses 10-13 have to say...
"Love one another with brotherly affection [as members of one family], giving precedence and showing    honor to one another.    Never lag in zeal and in earnest endeavor; be aglow and burning with the Spirit, serving the Lord.
Rejoice and exult in hope; be steadfast and patient in suffering and tribulation; be constant in prayer.
Contribute to the needs of God's people [sharing in the necessities of the saints]; pursue the practice of hospitality."

If you're searching for God's Will for your life, then do what those verses say.  It's a good place to start!
